We were told since kids that perfect practice makes perfect.

Although true, equipment is an important factor. There is a constant change in technology that allows hunting and all equipment to be better and to allow errors to not be as bad down range.
Look at typical clothing, hunting clothing is more technologically advanced than what grandpa/ma wore.

Maybe it’s time to upgrade?

Deer Stand Approach

See the attached link from Mossy Oak about deer stand approach.

I know as a kid walking to my stand, I learned a quick lesson on foot placement. I stepped on a twig, it snapped, and the white flags of a deers tail went up. Five deer approximately 35-40 yards away bound into the abiss of the deer woods to never being seen again.

Great article on clearing you deer path to your stand below.

The right fletching for the job.

Arrow fletching is the controlling arm of your arrow. When the right fletching is used, it can optimize arrow and point/broadhead accuracy.
Here is a good article on arrow fletching and bias head accuracy.

Marinating myths

Do you marinate your meat?
I don’t necessarily marinate meat as much as I use to. I typically use injections when I smoke brisket, turkey, pork shoulders, etc. I also use an herbed butter when I roast a turkey. But I never truly marinate meat.

I am heavy on the salt when it comes to red meats. I like to make a herbed salt and lay it on thick.  It forms a nice crust and enhances flavor.

The link below is a great article on the myths of marinating.

Fixed Head Broadhead Tuning

Tuning your broadheads is just as important as shooting 10′s.
You can fine tune your arrow rest shooting field points and broadheads at the same time.
See this awesome post.
